What is the Empty Nest Handbook?
A collection of ideas, information and action plans for you to use to build your best life now that you are an empty nest parent. (It's so much easier than staying up with a newborn, just wait, you'll see.)
What To Do in Your Empty Nest
Get Through It
The pain of a new empty nest is real. It can be hard to deal with and can feel pretty awful sometimes. But there is hope. There are ways to get through it easier and move on to the good stuff. You've got this.
Build Yourself Up
One of the best things to do to deal with empty nest distress is to build yourself up - mentally, physically and spiritually. You don't have to do it all at once. Just pick one area to work on and take it slowly.
Do Fun Stuff
"Have fun storming the castle!" is one of my favorite movie quotes from The Princess Bride and it reminds me to have fun. Instead of focusing on how being an empty nest parent feels, find something fun to do and do it! Storm the castle!
Get Organized
Remember when you were so busy with your kids' lives that you didn't have any time for pulling yourself together? Well, you do now. Declutter your house, organize your photos, clean out your email inbox...whatever you want.
Make a Difference
Now is your chance to change not only your world, but the whole world...a little piece at a time. Pick something that means something to you and dive in. Volunteer, switch to cruelty-free cosmetics, whatever you want to make a difference.
Make Extra Money
In your extra time you can add focus on your career or add a side hustle. Or take the time to clip coupons and save money. Think about what you'd like the extra funds for - your home, vacations, new clothes, an upgraded car...you get the picture.
